SUMMARY:PIE Day Fundraiser for Affirming Scholarship
DESCRIPTION:PIE Day 2025 \nGreenbank United Church is proud to announce that we will be participating in PIE Day 2025! \nThe acronym PIE stands for Public\, Intentional\, and Explicit: the standard for an affirming welcome of 2SLGBTQIA+ people. PIE represents three ways for us to test just how real our Affirmation and celebration of gender or sexual diversity is. Each of the three concepts supports the others. \nPublic = Being out and proud!\nIntentional = Putting thought and resources into action!\nExplicit = Not Having to Wonder! \nThis year we have a fundraiser and a dinner for PIE Day. \nShepherd’s Pie Fundraiser \nOur annual PIE Day fundraiser is back and we’re happy to offer you shepherd’s pies made locally by the culinary program at Port Perry High School. When you buy a Shepherd’s Pie\, whether for yourself or a friend\, the profits will be dedicated to supporting an Affirming Scholarship. This scholarship aims to assist a student actively engaged in diversity activism and community involvement\, specifically benefitting our local LGBTQ2S+ youth. \nThe pies are $20 each. \nAll orders must be placed before February 16\, 2025. Please place your orders using the form linked below. Contact Pat Dwyer if you have any questions. \nhttps://forms.gle/sMKegMeDJAp3TpmJA

SUMMARY:Ash Wednesday Labyrinth Walk
DESCRIPTION:On Ash Wednesday we begin our journey through Lent to Easter. We remember that we are dust and that we will return to dust. We smudge our forehead with a mixture of oil and with ashes and attest that we are of the ground\, of Earth Mother\, and to this we will all return. It is a time to reflect on life as a gift\, that all we have is by grace. We remember that all comes from God\, from the earth\, and so to it we will return. As such\, there is nothing that is not of God. It humbles us and elicits expressions of thankfulness for all that we have. \nAll are welcome on Wednesday\, March 5\, 2025 @ 10:30am in the Cambridge St. Church Gymnasium for a chance to walk the labyrinth and discover how we can pause through the journey of Lent to remember God’s grace and embody hope.

SUMMARY:Reconnecting with True Self: A Courage and Renewal® Seasonal Retreat Series
DESCRIPTION:Three seasonal retreats\, the first in February 2025\, a second in May 2025\, and a third in October 2025 will invite you to slow down\, listen\, and reconnect with your life and work at a deeper level\, in whatever life-season you find yourself. \nWinter: February 6-8\, 2025\nSpring: May 29-31\, 2025 and\nFall: October 2-4\, 2025 \nOur first gathering will be held in the stillness of winter\, warmed by the fireplace and stirred by our theme: Living with Fire. \nOur times of retreat will provide the opportunity to slow down\, to reconnect at a deeper level with our life and our work\, and to focus on listening as much as speaking. These retreats are an invitation to attend to the unfolding of our own identity and integrity\, and to how we might help each other to wholeheartedly embrace our own inner wisdom\, our communities and our callings. Alone and together we will engage in reflection and journaling\, time in nature\, silence and solitude\, and small and large group conversation. Clearness Committees will be offered at all three gatherings. \nFollowing winter we will return to enjoy the comfort and beauty of Kingfisher Bay in Spring and Fall\, embraced by tall pines\, peaceful waters and abundant wildlife. A three-season retreat offers a unique opportunity to reconnect deeply with ourselves and with one another as an ongoing Circle of Trust®. \nAdults of all ages\, stages and vocational paths welcome. \nEarly bird deadline: Jan 1\, 2025 \nRegistration deadline: Jan 24\, 2025 \nFacilitated by Past Moderator Mardi Tindal and Presbyterian Church USA retired minister Jean Richardson
