Evening game at Camp Quin-Mo-Lac

Evening games at Camp Quin-Mo-Lac

My focus for 2020 is connecting, supporting and action.

It is great to have all of the teams and forums up and running, I am staff support for the Formation, Nurture and Justice Team, the Equity Team and the Affirming Forum.

We started 2019 with most former presbyteries meeting as clusters. In 2020 some clusters are still meeting while others have decided to take a break. Clusters are a great way to make connections in your area, share ideas and support each other. There are no rules to clusters and you are free to start or join as many as you like. If you start a cluster, please let us know so we can share on the ECORC website.

We would like to share stories in 2020. There are many communities of faith engaged in amazing work. Let’s share these stories and inspire others to also take on new and exciting justice work. Stay tuned for more information from the Formation, Nurture and Justice Team about opportunities to gather together and learn with those whom have similar interests and passions.

A reminder that all meetings within our Regional Council should have an equity monitor. We are also asking for any community of faith who has not completed the survey to please do so as it will help us to update our information.

With the passing of the motion at the Inaugural meeting we have joined Affirm United/ S’affirmer Ensemble and have the status of an Interim Affirming Regional Council. The affirming forum met in January and started work on the Interim Action Plan for us to become an Affirming Regional Council.

Children, Youth and Young Adults

Team Niagara Youth Festival!

We have two regional events per year for children, youth and young adults. In 2020 there will be a focus on gathering together children and youth leaders in a geographical area to form a cluster to support each other. That cluster can look at having joint area gatherings for children and youth inbetween the regional events, perhaps monthly or bi-monthly. Rendez-vous is a national event which takes place every three years for youth (entering Grade 9 to Grade 12), young adults and youth leaders. It will be held in Calgary from August 11 to 14, please fill in the expression of interest form so we can keep you updated on travel plans.

Upcoming events:
  • Youth Forum- May 23 to 24 in Ajax
  • Rendezvous – August 11 to 14 -In Calgary

Updates and more information will be posted on the website and in the newsletter but please contact me if you have any questions, ideas or suggestions: SHull@united-church.ca
