Anti-racism, Interfaith, Intercultural Forum
“God is creatively and redemptively at work in the religious life of all humanity”
– The United Church of Canada, Interfaith Relations –
Anti-Racism Policy (April 22, 2022)
During Black History (African Heritage) Month, we are invited to listen more deeply to stories that have too often gone unheard. This season is about truth-telling, celebration, and recognition – honouring the faith, leadership, and resilience of Black people who have shaped the United Church of Canada from its earliest days.
The Toronto United Church Council (TUCC) is grateful to partner with Pilgrim United Church, recipients of a Leslie and Anna Davenport Fund grant, in support of the Here from the Beginning traveling exhibit that is going coast-to-coast. This powerful national exhibit brings to light the long and vital history of Black people in the life of the United Church of Canada, reminding us that Black communities and leaders were not newcomers but have been here from the beginning.
The exhibit will arrive in our Regional Council at the end of April for a month. Thank you to Frankford United Church for hosting alongside the Spring regional meeting on April 30 and May 2.
