“Friendly Visiting” Training and Information night

Thursday February 9 from 6:30 – 8:00 pm, on Zoom or in person at Trinity St Andrew’s United in Brighton (56 Prince Edward Street)

We are finally emerging from lockdown and confusion around Covid 19, but life has not, and is not likely to return to the normal we appreciated before the pandemic. The lay-visiting team at Trinity St Andrew’s is ready to revamp its friendly visiting program, with sensitivity to our new world reality. If your congregation is also looking for ways to care for those who live alone or have difficulty getting out to church or any social functions, you are welcome to join us!

You can attend either in person or via Zoom.

When registering, please indicate how many are joining from your team, and if appropriate, what kind of guidance or discussion you are looking for. We recognize that each context will have its own particular needs.

The plan for the evening:

• 6:30 – 6:40 > Greeting, opening devotional, introducing ourselves
• 6:40 – 7:10 > Interactive teaching time, where we review What is friendly visiting? As opposed to pastoral care? How do we do that? What are our limits? How often, by phone or in person, what needs to be in place before we begin a visiting program.
• 7:10 – 7:30 > Role playing (for Zoom participants, will be done in breakout rooms)
• 7:30 – 8:00 > Going forward. What are best practices for friendly visiting? Any other questions emerging?
