Celebrations Happening Around our Regional Council

As part of our celebrations to mark the United Church’s 100th anniversary, Trinity United Church in Bobcaygeon is doing a series of “Moments in Time.”  John Bick, our archivist, has put together wonderful pictures and text which are being shared in worship over several weeks which tell stories of Canada as it has moved through the past century as well as events at Trinity Church in that same time period, in the context of the Village of Bobcaygeon.  They are informative, entertaining and well done.  As well, the narthex welcome area has a 100th anniversary display, as does the space in front of the communion table in the sanctuary – highlighting artifacts, people, and events.  Photo albums from both Trinity and Providence churches also add to the richness of the experience.

JUNE 2025: “Roots and Branches, In Our Own Words: 100 Years of the United Church in North Marysburgh, Prince Edward County.” Take a stroll through time as we uncover the roots and branches of the bold faith and discipleship of the United Church in North Marysburgh since 1925. Told in our own words, Cressy Glenora United Church offers a history come to life with original artifacts, testimonies from people who were there, letters from the United Church Archives, photographs and more. Guests are invited to participate by sharing memories “in your own words” on our “roots and branches” history tree. A sit-down tea, coffee and light refreshments to be served. Presented by Cressy Glenora United Church with Rev. Aaron Miechkota, at 3442 County Road 7, Cressy, Prince Edward County, Ontario. Exact date and time to come. To RSVP, to contribute stories or photographs to this event, or for more information, please email unitedinpec@gmail.com

Mark your calendars as we invite churches in the Clarington Region and Durham Region who wish to continue to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the United Church of Canada. We will gather for a celebration on Thursday July 3rd at 7pm at St. Paul’s United in Bowmanville. Our guest preacher will be Rev. Michelle Robinson from Westminster United in Whitby. Please share with your congregations and come join us. We have reason to celebrate because God is not done with us yet.

SUMMER 2025 – Come walk the ancient sands on this pilgrimage in Prince Edward County (Ontario) this Summer. Pilgrims will gather for a 2.5 km walk through ancient sand dunes (the largest of their kind in the world), followed by an agape meal on the beach of Lake Ontario.
A pilgrimage is a walk that is at once an outward journey of the body and an inward journey of the soul. A pilgrimage is a walk with intention, a journey in community, for people of faith, people of philosophy, and people with their own personal sense of spirituality. You are welcome.
Lead in small groups by United Church minister Aaron Miechkota, with gratitude to Cressy Glenora United Church. You are welcome to come enjoy a day off in these beautiful lands.
