Remit 1 Resources and Vote Updates

We’re getting there!
As of February 12, 2024, 51 percent of ECORC Communities of Faith have voted.
Let’s keep going!

Over the past months, a tireless team of ECORC volunteers have been reaching out to pastoral charges, encouraging them to vote on Remit 1: Creating an Autonomous Indigenous Organization and to submit those votes to General Council to be counted. This remit is an important step towards reconciliation with indigenous ministries, respecting their wish to travel forward together in two separate but equal canoes.

The last day to submit a vote in the remit process is March 31, 2024. A new document addresses Frequently Asked Questions, and a new video also responds to key questions that have been raised. Full information—including voting cards—are available on the website for General Council 44.

Your Community of Faith has voted. Now what do you do?
Send in the Response Form either by email or Canada Post to the address provided on the form. You will need to include your Mission and Service number and your Community of Faith ID. If you don’t have these numbers, please contact Karen Wilson: kwilson@united-church.ca.

Still have questions? Please contact Karen at the email above and you will be put in contact with one of our volunteers.
