Our meeting has now concluded and we are so thankful to all who were able to join us! A huge thank you to everyone at Westminster United Church – the welcoming, the food, the beautiful space. We thank you.
Below you will find post meeting decisions as well as an evaluation that we invite you to fill out. This helps us to plan our upcoming meetings. There are also specific volunteer roles that have been added and you are welcome to choose all that you would be interested in.
Karen Wilson will be working on gathering more materials from our meeting to include presentations, video recordings and slides. As they become available, they will be announced in the weekly newsletter.
May Christ lead you beyond comfort into lives shaped by purpose and justice. May the Spirit who moves us through wilderness places awaken in you courage for bold and faithful journeys. And may the Creator, who holds us in love, continually remind you that you belong.
Sincerely,
Joyce Payne and Stephen Coles
Speaker and Past Speaker of the Council of Elders

Creating Interactive Surveys
-
For smaller groups, Mentimeter has a free plan where you can create an interactive slideshow presentation once a month with polling/quiz questions for less than 50 participants.
-
You can also send out a survey beforehand using a program like Google Forms (free) or Microsoft Forms (with M365 subscription) which can generate visual charts of results (pie charts, graphs, etc).
-
Communities of faith that have taken advantage of the free Canva Pro for Nonprofits can also make interactive polls and publish them with a public link (see Tori’s example survey here). You can link the responses to charts in Canva’s slideshow presentations.
-
Use a clear container like a bowl or jar and give everyone a coloured pompom (or similar). Everyone can cast their vote, and you will have an instant visual to show which way the group is leaning.
-
Create a visual chart on poster paper and invite folks to add a sticker to show their preferences/how strong they agree or disagree with a question.
-
Sometimes called the “This or That” game, create a spectrum by choosing one and of the room to be option A, and the other end to be option B. Folks can move between the two endpoints to show their preference for either option. This can also be done in quadrants (on two-axis).
